In 2010, I wrote my very first Live Voyage Report – and it wasn’t even all that “live.” It was an overnight cruise between Vancouver and Seattle aboard Holland America Line’s Rotterdam, a ship I had always badly wanted to sail aboard and which, by stroke of fate, made her way over to the West Coast for her one and only season here.

I had no idea what I was starting.

This Thursday marks the start of our 13th Live Voyage Report of the year – and there’s some exciting changes coming. But before we talk about where we’re headed, I wanted to take a moment to explore where we’ve been. It’s always been my number-one-goal to show people just how many interesting and fascinating cruise ships there are in the world. But along the way, I’ve surprised myself by discovering some amazing places and wonderful people.

If you’ve been pondering over where to go next, hopefully this list will provide you with some cruising inspiration!

I hope my triumphs can be your triumphs, and my mistakes can serve as good learning experiences so you don’t have to endure them. From there, you can draw your own conclusions about which ships and destinations are right for you. Hopefully, you’ll discover something you never knew existed.

Because that is the brilliant thing about cruising – there’s a ship out there for everyone!
