Ultra-luxury line Silversea has just unveiled brand-new entertainment programs across their five-ship fleet of classic luxury cruise ships. The brand-new production shows will feature live vocal performances that are complemented with musical tracks that have been arranged and recorded expressly for Silversea by the likes of the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and others.

In all, a total of seven new shows will debut for the entertainment pleasure of Silversea’s guests. According to the line, these will feature rich costumes, imaginative set designs and special visual effects. They’ll also introduce a new vocal ensemble called Voices of Silversea – a group of accomplished artists with top-notch vocal talents.

What is new and noteworthy about this announcement, however, are the shows that Silversea will be rolling out for their guests. These buck the trend from the typical tributes to ABBA, Motown, and the like. A short preview from Silversea:

  • Musica Maestro: A grand ballroom is the elegant backdrop for this signature show, a 45-minute tribute to popular operatic arias and classical crossover music. Led by renowned conductor Richard Balcombe, its captivating musical score has been arranged, performed, and recorded by London’s Royal Philharmonic Orchestra exclusively for Silversea guests.
  • Mind the Gap: Mod fashions and the iconic imagery of a London tube station propel this lively journey back to the 1960s and the British Invasion that conquered the airwaves with such legendary pop and rock stars as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Lulu, Tom Jones, and more.
  • Don’t Stop the Music: Guests are welcome to don their best retro dancing shoes to join in this foot-tapping, sing-along homage to the disco era’s pulsating rhythms and colourful funky fashions — and then take to the dance floor when the ship’s DJ steps in to keep the party rolling.

Additional shows include Caliente, a Latin-flavoured production encompassing tunes from Spain and South America; Shaken Not Stirred, celebrating the intrigue, glamour, and sophistication embodied in 50 years of James Bond films; Première, a chronological musical tribute to some of the world’s greatest movies; and Amore, featuring timeless love songs.

In addition to the above performances in the main show lounge, Silversea also says that The Voices of Silversea artists will entertain guests with duets and cabaret-style performances in some of the more intimate public spaces and lounges throughout the ships.

“We’re delighted to enrich our guests’ onboard experience with these new entertainment offerings,” said Kristian Anderson, Silversea’s senior vice president and general manager for the Americas. “The shows celebrate some of music’s most enduring genres, and will likely bring back wonderful memories of bygone days.”

Silversea’s new production shows will be rolled out across the fleet over the next few months. Silver Wind currently has the new production shows onboard, and Silver Cloud will begin showcasing them to guests beginning with her November 12 voyage from Rome to Funchal (Voyage 1434).

The rest of the fleet will receive the new shows as follows:

  • Silver Whisper, Voyage 4432, November 25 – December 12, Barbados to Barbados
  • Silver Shadow, Voyage 3435, December 20 – January 7, Valparaiso to Fort Lauderdale
  • Silver Spirit, Voyage 5508, April 13 – 25, 2015, Fort Lauderdale to Lisbon

The new production shows are featured across Silversea’s “classic” ultra-luxury cruise ships but not, understandably, on the line’s three luxury expedition vessels: Silver Explorer, Silver Galapagos, and Silver Discoverer.
