Yesterday, we bid Carnival Cruise Line’s Carnival Miracle a fond farewell in the port of Long Beach, California, and hopped a plane for Portland, Oregon, where our next adventure awaits!

Over the course of the next week, we’ll be sailing aboard Un-Cruise Adventures’ intimate S.S. Legacy, a sleek vessel inspired by the glory days of steamship travel at the start of the last century. We’re sailing roundtrip from Portland, Oregon along the Columbia and Snake Rivers, from the rugged terrain of Hell’s Canyon to the east to the beautiful city of Astoria, Oregon all the way out on the Pacific.

We’ll have a complete day-by-day writeup of our voyage coming up…but sadly, we can’t share it with you live: all Un-Cruise ships lack onboard Wi-Fi. And personally, I’m thrilled about that. Wi-Fi is great (particularly when you’re in the business I am in), but it’s also distracting. The “real world” constantly pulls for your attention. Un-Cruise is all about full destination immersion, and that’s something that’s hard to do when half your guests are twittering away.

We’ll be sailing aboard S.S. Legacy from June 6 to 13, and will be scheduling our posts for later on this month.

June 16th, our Live Voyage Reports return from Alaska, as we sail with Princess Cruises on a fantastic CruiseTour that will begin in Anchorage and wind its way down through Mt. McKinley, Denali National Park, and Whittier before we embark the gorgeous Star Princess for a weeklong voyage back to Vancouver, British Columbia. Our report will run from June 16 until June 27, when we arrive in Vancouver.

And then? Then we’re off to conquer the Arctic with Silversea Expeditions’ Silver Explorer!

So stay tuned as we take “a break” for a week, but return with a full complement of adventures later this month!

Our Live Voyage Report aboard Un-Cruise Adventures’ S.S. Legacy will begin later this month! Be sure to follow along on twitter by following @deckchairblog or the hashtag #LiveVoyageReport.
