If you like luxury cruises, I’m always of the opinion that Silversea’s voyages in the Caribbean are some of the best value out there. Departing close to home, the line’s fleet of all-inclusive luxury ships makes a point of calling on an intoxicating mix of big-name and out-of-the-way ports of call that simply can’t be visited on larger vessels, and Silversea does it in a way that will keep you coming back for more.

Now, the line has announced a new incentive for those looking to book a Caribbean cruise in 2018 before November 30, 2017: free shore excursions.

Guests who make a new booking on select 2018 Caribbean voyages aboard Silver Wind and Silver Muse will be treated to a selection of free excursions in every port of call, along with $199 roundtrip economy-class airfare from select major gateways in the United States and Canada.

“We invite winter travelers to take advantage of this special offer to enjoy a warm-weather luxury cruise to the beautiful islands of the Caribbean, which are ready to welcome our guests with the region’s signature warmth and hospitality,” said Mark Conroy, Silversea’s managing director for the Americas. “With these carefully selected shore excursions, our guests can immerse themselves deeper in each island’s remarkable culture and heritage.”

My first-ever Silversea experience was aboard Silver Spirit in the Caribbean nearly seven years ago, and it ranks as one of my favorite voyages anywhere.

Sailing to the Caribbean aboard Silversea couldn’t be more different from a megaship cruise. You never have to queue to get on or off the ship, and when you do come back onboard, a cool drink and a refreshing towel await you. I remember watching, in St. Thomas, as guests on a large mainstream ship queued up in the sun, while Silversea set out shaded tents and provided cold rum punch to its guests.

If you’ve never taken a luxury cruise before, the Caribbean is a great place to start. Airfare costs are lower, and these voyages are very competitively priced compared to longer summer sailings in the Mediterranean or Northern Europe.

Despite that, the still offer all of Silversea’s hallmarks, from the line’s impeccable service to its full roster of amenities, from Relais & Chateaux-inspired dining to a pillow menu with nine different options, three different kinds of toiletries, and butler service for all – regardless of what category of suite you’re staying in. Beverages are complimentary, and gratuities are neither required nor expected.

Back in 2012, I made good friends with a couple on a crossing aboard Silver Spirit from Bridgetown to Lisbon. After a few days on Silversea, one of them turned to me and said, “You know, I don’t think I could get tired of champagne with breakfast.”

That’s the Silversea difference. In the Caribbean this year, that experience becomes even more all-inclusive thanks to this new shore excursion and air offer.

Here’s a sample of Silversea’s 2018 Caribbean sailings that are eligible for this double promotion, but remember: you’ve got to book by November 30, 2017 to take advantage of it.
